
Municipal Reserve, the centre of viticulture. A dominant landmark of the town and its surroundings is the Baroque chateau, nowadays a seat of the Regional Museum. Among other things worth seeing belong especially an exhibition of viticulture, Gothic prismatic town tower, nearby the Baroque Church of St.Wenceslaw; reconstructed Dietrichstein's crypt and in accessible charnel house the remains of Mikulov Dietrichsteins. In the square and its neighborhood you can find many of picturesque Renaissance and Baroque houses as well as Baroque piaristic grammar-school, first of its kind in Bohemian countries. Moreover there is a Jewish Quarter with its synagogue and significant Jewish cemetery which is ranked amongst the largest in Middle Europe. Above the town Svatý Kopeček ("Holy, Little Glob") offers a magnificent view. Next there is artillery fort called Kozí Hrádek ("Goaty Little Castle") and Turold- chalky hill, in former quarry a cave discovered in 1951 with extraordinary karsts decoration and places where bats stay during the winter, accessible.
